With Thanks to Dave Roberston
Submitted By Stephanie Winstanley on Friday, August 11, 2017
The SCTA would like to take a moment to remember and thank, SCTA Treasurer, Dave Robertson, a man who lived and breathed hockey. Dave served in various Executive positions in minor hockey over the past 40+ years.  Dave was the President of Oakville Minor Hockey in the mid 70's, rep convenor for Oakville and most recently as Treasurer of the SCTA. All of those who have served on the board or as members of the hockey council respected Dave for his expertise, experience and dedication. It truly was an honour to work alongside him. He was a steadfast supporter of minor hockey whose presence and guidance will be missed by all members of the SCTA who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dave passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on Thursday, August 3, 2017. “Boots”, as he was known, was a fixture in Oakville Minor Hockey for many years as the Manager of countless teams in the Rep system. He was instrumental over the years in coordinating several international exchange visits including those with Finland, Korea, Japan, and the U.S.

While hockey was a passion for Dave, his volunteering spirit extended from the arena to the golf course where he worked at local Canadian Opens. Notably, Dave was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 2005 and was honoured by the Town of Oakville in conjunction with Calgary 88 for Volunteer Service in Sports.  Dave will be missed by the hockey community and his SCTA hockey family.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will occur on Saturday August 26 at 11 a.m. at Glen Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (403/Dundas). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The Oakville Hospital Foundation.
