The SCTA looked like the were going to get a multiple goal lead a few times during the match but the ETA refused to quite and fought back every time. With the third period winding down, ETA came back to within one goal and had momentum on their side for the last few minutes, keeping the SCTA in their zone. Many fans thought we were headed to OT for a second straight year. However, the SCTA cleared the zone on a good break out pass and potted an empty net goal to seal the victory. SCTA threw 41 shots onto the ETA net compared to ETA’s 28 shots.
The game was very fast paced and consisted of beautiful goals, hits and strong play by both teams.
SCTA would like to extend a thank you to the Guelph crew of Steve Locke, Craig Dool, Shawn Patterson and Tom Gill who coached the team on such short notice. Your strong commitment to minor hockey was evident in your preparation for the game and getting to know the players.
Congratulations to the players and thank you as well for an extremely entertaining game.
