Dear Players, Coaches, Parents and overall Minor Hockey
Fans:
As the summer winds down and back to school is on all minds,
so is the beginning of the new hockey season.
SCTA is excited for our upcoming season and we continue to “tweak” and
improve our league.
One of the biggest changes we have made is to create a new logo to better represent the league and what it stands for as one of the best AAA hockey leagues. Look for a larger social media presence in the near future as well.
The schedules are virtually done with a few season and playoff format changes again this year. Novice will be much different as the new Hockey Canada rules take affect. Minor Peewee now joins in on our Round robin playoff format this year. Minor Peewee to Midget will follow this format, while only Minor Atom and Atom will maintain the Qualifier format. Check out our Seasons Dates page showing all the information regarding seasons dates, playoff dates, OMHA championships for all Divisions. Our Rules of Operation have been updated to reflect all changes as well. I encourage everyone to read these to understand how the league operates.

The league will continue to use the Game sheet Inc. (GSI) electronic scoring app this year. For previous users you will be contacted by your Association with clear instructions on which version and login information shortly. We will not be recording shots for the various divisions as it was too subjective last year. Also new this year, coaches will have 24 hrs after a game to contact the league with corrections to scoring. The league will listen to the coaches on changes and will decide if they are worthy or not. No additional assists will be added, only scoring modifications will be done. This is for the Minor Midget and Midget divisions only.

We have partnered with Game on Stream. GOS is an Automated Broadcast Management System that allows you to stream both live events and replay previous ones on-demand. Its automated nature eliminates the need for specialized IT, production support and camera personnel. At the same time, it remains incredibly easy to customize by you the user – no broadcasting degree necessary.
Using a private network and unmanned cameras with infrastructure that is operational 24/7, creating a perfect broadcast available to your chosen audience is as simple as scheduling an event and activating your stream. Many of our arenas have been outfitted with the GOS system. Look for the GOS logo beside our calendar to see which games can be viewed. This is an exciting improvement to the marketing of our great league.

Special Games/Events: The Midget All-Star game will once again be hosted by Burlington on Nov 30th, where the South will play Central. This game will surely be a fast-paced energetic event and is always close scoring.
On Sat Jan 4th, 2020 the Bantam Combine and All-Star game will be hosted at the University of Guelph Athletic Centre and Gold Arena. This event allows the elite players to go though OHL type testing performed by Xcel Sport Testing. With both dryland and on ice testing the day also will allow parents and players an opportunity to hear from OHL scouts, fitness trainers and OHL managers. The event finishes with a Bantam All-Star game. Last year the arena was full; with many OHL scouts in attendance.
New this year is a joint Minor Midget Showcase between the Eastern AAA Hockey League and the SCTA. It is a true OMHA Minor Midget AAA Showcase, where 23 teams from both Leagues will play games over Friday Dec 6th – Sunday Dec 8th at the Oakville Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. The arena will be full of fans and a multitude of OHL scouts as these players battle to go to the next hockey level in their young careers. During the play on the Saturday there will be a Midget OMHA All Star game where SCTA will play the ETA Midget All Stars. This game showcases the Midget players and their true speed and skill.
We look forward to getting the season going and wish all the players a fun, safe and enriching year of AAA hockey.
