ETA held on to a slim victory over SCTA during the OMHA
Midget All Star game at the OMHA AAA Showcase.
This rivalry continues to be a highlight game of the weekend.
The SCTA Midgets took on the ETA Midget All stars to great fanfare and a large crowd of Scouts. SCTA set a strong pace in the first period carrying the majority of the play. Unfortunately, they were not able to put one past the eventual ETA MVP of the game, Mike Simpson of the Peterborough Jr Petes. ETA got on the board in the last minute of the first period with a great shot to the upper left-hand corner on goaltender Hayden Williamson from Brampton 45’s.
SCTA came out in the second and continued to try to put one past the ETA goalie. As the frustration grew, with a few tough bounces SCTA finished the second down 3-0.
SCTA came out hitting and forechecking in the third. They were very determined to get a goal quick in the third. At 3:01 into the period, William Lepage of the Southern Tier Admirals scored with assists by Jackson Phillips (Guelph Jr Gryphons) and Tyler Hunt (Halton Hurricanes). SCTA continued with their game plan and were rewarded at the 9:20 mark of the third. Kevin Henstock of the Oakville Rangers scored, assisted by Joel Verspeeten (Burlington Eagles).
The push continued for the balance of the period. ETA defense held strong allowing them to claim the one goal victory. Kyle Glenney of the Niagara North stars was named the MVP for the SCTA squad.
It was a very high pace skilled close game which we have witnessed for several years now. Congratulations to ETA on their victory and SCTA for an extremely entertaining game
